US late 60s funk group of high school guys from Bethune Jr-Sr High, in Shreveport, LA.
Road Runners started out in 1967 as the Rock 'n' Roadrunners. Under the guiding hand of senior member and mentor Hayes Gipson, they soon became a tight, disciplined and rhythmic unit. Despite several gigs, opening also for Sam & Dave and Pigmeat Markham, they don't gained ever a record deal. So, like so many other bands, they decided to make their own record label. In 1969 the band recorded and released their only single with 2000 copies pressed.
