Welsh vocal group. Their name translates as 'The Blackboard Boys' in English. The original members met at a Teachers' Summer School at Trinity College, Carmarthen in 1958. They won the premier award at the Llanelly National Eisteddfod in 1962. They are primarily a penillion singing group (or Cerdd Dant = String Music), which is vocal improvisation over a given melody in Welsh musical tradition, but they also did folk and contemporary songs. Members included: Noel John, J.J. Joshua, E. Evans, T. Bowen, T.M. Jones, D. Williams, D.P. Jones. H.G. Evans, W. Davies, B. Davies, M. Rees, T. Thomas, G. Phillips, B. Roberts, J.B. Phillips, W.K.
