Fefi Eibisberger

Real name: Genofeva Eibisberger

Austrian folk vocalist and zither player, born 1892. Learned to play the "hackbrett" (a type of austrian zither) around 1914, where she developed her own personal style. In 1925 she married Stefan Eibisberger, with whom she soon after performed in the Graz radio station. The couple moved to the Tyrnauer Alm, where she was rediscovered in 1954 when she had a small part in the film "Echo der Berge" (mountain echo). She then returned to quiet living, only performing for friends or in a nearby inn run by Franz Schmiedhofer. In may 1967 she and her husband were recorded for an austrian folk music compilation. The compilation's producers returned to her in september 1968 and may 1969 to record a full album.
