Pianist and Orchestra Leader. He was a prolific Edison recording artist, appearing on Edison Records as solo pianist, a member of his own trio (Stevens' Trio) and dance quartet and was the leader of his own dance orchestra.
Ernest Stevens (1894-1981) was Thomas Alva Edison personal pianist-arranger from 1922 to 1924 when Edison was experimenting with recording sounds and making recordings on wax cylinders.
Mr. Stevens, born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, December 15, 1894, was involved with music until his death in Montclair, New Jersey, April 6, 1981.
