The Exceptional Three

Effective period / Period of releases: 1971

Members: Floyd Beck

Cleveland, mid 1960s-70s
The Exceptional Three were, for the most, a foursome, as the group appeared as the Exceptional Three with Ruby Carter, Ruby being the lead singer.
The Three included Floyd Beck on guitar, Julius Roberts on bass, and Greg Brooks on drums.
In 1971 the group recorded their lone 45 for Way Out (pressed at Boddie), with the A side "What About Me?" being a local hit. The record was popular enough for the GRT label (same label as Cleveland's Rastus) to re-release it nationally, changing the group name to the Exceptionals.
The group played around the Cleveland area for many years. After the group broke up, Floyd Beck returned to Pittsburgh, where he was originally from, and made some recordings.
