We All Die

Effective period / Period of releases: 2014

Members: Arno Strobl, Déhà

Depressive Progressive Introspective Dark Metal from Belgium - France - Bulgaria - New York

Having been asked by EYE OF SOLITUDE to both guest on one of their 2013 song, “The Deceit”, Arno Strobl (CinC, ex-Carnival in Coal, ex-6:33) and Déhà (C.O.A.G., MERDA MUNDI, SOURCES OF I, YHDARL…) felt that mixing their two different approaches of Extreme Metal could create something really unique: WE ALL DIE (laughing) was born.

Written and recorded in the blind of an eye, “Thoughtscanning”, the band’s debut, marks Strobl’s departure from that “gifted yet funny singer” label that used to stick on all of his work since CARNIVAL IN COAL displaying here a very sad, depressive, introspective and way more personal aspect of his art, his vocals still ranging from the crooner-like style to Death Metal growls with the quality and in the trademark style that got him famous but, on “Thoughtscanning”, this incredible vocal-range, serves the schizophrenic aspect of the inner struggles the concept is being based on.

Déhà, known for his talents as a multi-instrumentalist (he sings and plays the guitar, bass, piano and many others…) and his utter-creativity as displayed in his dozen of solo-projects and for being an important part of Germany’s progressive Black Metal band MALADIE, composed the whole 33 minutes long piece that’s WE ALL DIE (laughing) debut, creating a mesmerizing and tantalizing piece of depressive and twisted, sick-written art.

This twin-headed Frankenstein-ish beast’s debut is one of the most progressive, strange, genre-blending piece of Avantgarde Metal since years, building the band a real personality upon a basis made of progressive Rock, progressive Metal, dark Jazz, depressive Black Metal, Doom and many other sub-genres, pushing the envelope and crossing the stylistic boundaries, creating some of the most hypnotic musical journey ever.

If it wasn’t enough, and besides the Amy Winehouse cover version available on the limited edition first press of the album, WE ALL DIE (laughing) also created a surprising thirteen minutes long acoustic instrumental variation on the album’s main musical theme, titled “Variation on the Scanning of Thoughts” which got released as a collector split EP with label mates THE LUMBERJACK FEEDBACK on late 2014.
