American composer, socialite, sculptor, dance patron, and philanthropist who founded the Harkness Ballet.Born April 17, 1915 St. Louis, Missouri, USA Died 17 June 1982 (aged 67) New York City, USA.
Also known as Betty Harkness. She became well known as a philanthropist and patron of the arts.
As a composer, she mainly wrote for dance and ballet. Her first ballet was Journey to Love, prodced in 1958 at the Brussesl World's Fair.
