Formed in 1973, Aylesbury, U.K., by John Mathias (2) (bass/producer), Richard Mathias (guitar), George Young (drums) and Paul War (keyboards) along with singer Jackie Robins.
Formed as a reggae band by the Matthias Brothers their first single "Rudi's In Love" charted in the UK in 1973.
During the mid 70's the band's music developed towards the Philadelphia style with a number of chart entries.
Emerging throught the changing styles of the late 70's the band developed into a seven piece funk outfit playing to concert audiences throughout Britain and touring the continent.
The 80's saw a new Chequers as a band with it's own record label.
Their roots in the reggae and soul music of the last mod era have now extended embracing the music of today and tomorrow...
