Led by vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Simon Smith, Wide Boys were from Moseley, a suburb of Birmingham, United Kingdom, which has a rich musical heritage. It was also the area where some of UB40 resided and the bands often gigged together in their early days. Wide Boys released just one single: 'Stop That Boy' (1980) on Big Bear Records. The band later changed there name to The Last Detail.
