Conception

Members: Jim Dant, Bill Tullis, Charlie Day

Late 60s US heavy rock group from Louisville, KY.
The high school band The Consuls - featuring the lead guitarist Charlie Day - morphed into Organized Confusion and then Stonehenge, by which time the band comprised Day, lead singer Del Clark, bassist Mark Zurlage and drummer Jim Dant. In December 1968 they opened for The Grateful Dead at Bellarmine College. Shortly after the rhythm guitarist and singer Bill Tullis (from the Louisville band The Oxfords) replaced Clark as Stonehenge became Conception. With the production of Stuart Paine (The Gentrys) they recorded two tracks at Ardent Studios in Memphis (about to become the home to Big Star) that was issued as single at the end of 1969. Few months later the group disbanded (Day got married and Dant was drafted).
