The Dell-Vikings

Members: Chuck Jackson, Corinthian "Kripp" Johnson, Gus Backus, Clarence E. Quick, Cleveland Martin, Norman Wright (3)

The Del Vikings formed in 1955, they contained five young American Air Force men (all black). In 1956, they won a song contest run by the Air Force while stationed in Pittsburgh. Fee-Bee records released their big hits "Come Go With Me" which became a million seller in 1957, and "Whispering Bells". National distribution was handled by Dot.
The members have changed constantly over the decades. Original group members in early 1957: Corinthian "Kripp" Johnson, Clarence Quick, David Lerchey, Norman Wright and Donald "Gus" Backus.
