French guitarist and composer that was born 27 September 27th, 1968 in Paris, and died from cancer on March 8th, 2021 in Rezé, France. James was a co-founder of the French jazz-rock group One Shot but received the most international attention as a member of Magma from 1998-2017.

Despite his name, James Mac Gaw was not British, nor Scottish. The family name Mac Gaw is Bréton, and can be traced back to an ancestor with the very same name of James Mac Gaw from the 1830s of Port-Louis, Brittany.
