Rupert Davies (1916, Liverpool - 1976, London) was an English actor best known for playing Georges Simenon's detective Jules Maigret on British television in the early 60s.Davies served in the British naval air force during World War II and learned the acting trade as a prisoner at Stalag Luft III, the Nazi prisoner of war camp made infamous by the Great Escape.
