Richard ‘Dicky’ Dixon was born on the 8th May 1934 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He served as a mechanic in the Korean War having joined the Air Force at the age of 17. He married Louise Beverly Dixon in 1959 and raised three children. After his military career he became a well known musician in the Charlotte area playing regularly at The Fireman’s Hall amongst other venues. He was an opening act for some headline musicians including Jerry Lee Lewis, Conway Twitty, and Fats Domino.
