The "Wachregiment Felix Dzierżyński" was a military unit and part of the armed organs of the GDR. It was founded in November 1951 and was subordinate to the Ministry of State Security of the GDR. From 1967 it was named after Feliks Dzierżyński, the founder of the Soviet Russian secret police Cheka. First appearance of the music corps was 1952. The music corps played at events and military occasions, like parades. A choir was also part of the corps.
