Joseph Kahaulelio

Real name: Joseph "Uncle Joe" Kamohai Kahaulelio

Hawaiian musician, singer-songwriter, dancer and master of ceremonies.
Born on Dec 14, 1929 in Honolulu, Honolulu County - died on May 25, 1985 in Honolulu, Honolulu County.
He was a creative show producer, with revues in hotel showrooms on Oahu and Kauai. He trained in the ancient hula (kahiko) with Katie Nakaula, Lokalia Montgomery, and Henry Pa, and was also a skillful comic dancer. In 1975 he moved to California and opened "Kamo's of Hawaii," a hula studio in Hayward, near San Francisco. He produced the Bay Area's Tahiti Fete competition in 1979, and was the inspiration for the Joseph Kamohai Kahaulelio Chant & Hula Competition in the 1970s and 1980s.
