The Zorian String Quartet was a British string quartet ensemble, formed in 1942 by violinist Olive Zorian (1916—1965). With an all-female lineup, the quartet premiered numerous pieces by Benjamin Britten and Sir Michael Tippett, and gave debut UK performances of notable works by Ernest Bloch, Béla Bartók, and other European contemporary composers. The Zorian Quartet was active until the late 1950s, likely disbanding after Olive Zorian's retirement.Initial line-up
