Lê Minh Bằng
Members: Minh Kỳ, Anh Bằng, Lê Dinh
A songwriting trio from South Vietnam.They were formed in 1966 until disbanded two days before the end of the Vietnam War.
Most of the songs were written by Anh Bằng alone (prior to the group's formation in 1966 and after) or together with Lê Dinh and Minh Kỳ. The group use pseudonyms to write songs such as Dạ Cầm (Ai hỏi tên anh, Chuyện ba mùa mưa, Đà Lạt hoàng hôn, Lần đầu cũng là lần cuối, Thương về miền đất lạnh, Tuổi học trò), Mạc Phong Linh (Mưa đầu mùa, Từ miền đất lạnh, Viết từ KBC), Mai Bích Dung (Linh hồn tượng đá), Mai Thiết Lĩnh (Hai mùa mưa, Lan và Điệp trilogy), Vũ Chương (Chuyện một đêm, Đám cưới nhà binh, Sài Gòn thứ bảy, Tình đời, Thương vùng hỏa tuyến), Tôn Nữ Thụy Khương (Huế bây giờ and Mưa trên phố Huế) and others.
In addition to songwriting, they were open a music class club that launching the singing careers of female singers such as Kim-Loan, Trang Mỹ Dung and others. They were also involved in radio/television music programs.
During the last days of the Vietnam War, Minh Kỳ went on to work as a police officer in South Vietnam's police department. Anh Bằng alongside his three kids leaving the country two days before the end of the Vietnam War. Following the events, Minh Kỳ was arrested and imprisoned at a re-education camp until he died four months later. Lê Dinh successfully fled the country with his family and lived in Canada since 1978 until he died in November 2020. Anh Bằng went on to formed Asia Entertainment (known as Lê Minh Bằng at the time) in 1982 and continues to be involved in Asia Entertainment after his retirement until his death in 2015.
