Japanese classical and jazz flautist, born in Tokyo in 1947. Has performed with Gil Evans Orchestra, Masahiko Togashi Quartet, Hideo Ichikawa Quartet, Yuji Ohno & Explosion Band, Masahiko Sato & Saifa , Warren Smith, Keith Jarrett, Eddie Gomez, Richie Beriach, George Mraz. Lee Konitz, Richard Davis, Don Friedman, Joe Chambers, Richard Stoltzman & Yo Yo Ma, amongst others. In music such as jazz, Brazilian music, and pops, 昌三 (Masami) is used, and in classical and contemporary music, 昌巳 (Masami) is used, the name are used according to the genre of music.
