George Piros
Real name: George T. Piros
American mastering engineer, born March 15, 1919; died February 3, 1985, New City, N.Y. (age 65).Known to have engineered at Reeves Sound Studios, Fine Recording Studios, Sadler Studios New York and Atlantic Studios, New York City.
Founded Fine Sound, in Tomkins Cove, N.Y., with C. Robert Fine after leaving Reeves circa 1951, and worked with Fine and Wilma Cozart on the Mercury Living Presence series of recordings, and was the vinyl mastering component of this team. Piros also did the stereo-engineered pressings of the Command Classics series of recordings.
Retired from Atlantic Records in 1984.
