She was married to actors Franchot Tone and Cornel Wilde.
She began her career as a model, making her screen debut when she was 17 in "Louisiana Purchase" (1941). By the time Wallace was 18, she had worked as a dancer and singer. She sang the title songs to two films that she also starred in: 1958's "Maracaibo" and 1967's "Beach Red".
