Auður Hafsteinsdóttir

Real name: Auður Hafsteinsdóttir

Auður Hafsteinsdóttir. Born: 24.09.1965 Icelandic Violinist.

Auður holds a B.M. degree from New England Conservatory in Boston and a Master of Music degree from the University of Minnesota. Her teachers there were the internationally renowned Almita and Roland Vamos. In 1985 she received the C. D. Jackson award for outstanding string player at the Tangelwood International Music Festival and in 1988 the first prize at the Schubert Club music competition. She has been named Artist of the Year for the City of Reykjavík, Artist of the Year in the municipality of Seltjarnarnes, and she has received an Artist’s Salary for three years from the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture in Iceland. Hafsteinsdóttir has frequently performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, America, Japan, and China. She records regularly for radio and television and has appeared on various CDs. She teaches the violin at the Reykjavík College of Music and the Iceland Academy of the Arts.
