German composer, born on June 27th, 1930 in Saarbrücken, died January 29th 2014 in Fulda. He studied piano and music theory at the Heidelberg Conservatory as well as psychology, medicine (doctorate) and sociology (under Theodor W. Adorno, among others). He completed additional composition studies with Gustav Kneip in Hamburg and with Johann Wolfgang Hohensee in Berlin. Since 1970 he has lived as a freelance composer in Fulda, where he described himself as a “border crosser” between popular and serious music.
