Edward Gierek
Edward Gierek (Born 6th January 1913, Died 29 July 2001). A Polish politician, First Secretary of the ruling Polish United Workers' Party in the Polish People's Republic. He was removed from power after labor strikes led to the Gdansk Agreement between the communist state and the workers of the Solidarity free trade union.
