The Rousers

Members: Gary Schluenz

The Rousers was formed around March 1963 at Davenport (Iowa) West High School by organist Gary Metzger. A newspaper article from the November 10, 1963, edition of "The Quad City Times" lists the members as Gary Metzger, Lloyd Kerr (bass), Dan Rabe (drums), Gary Schluenz (guitar), and Jeff Lantz (saxophone). Bill Ernst appears to have been the group's main bassist, although he had a substitute fill in for him during football season. The band was known to have won a local televised talent contest called "Golden Opportunity" sometime in 1963.
