Soul - rhythm n' blues singer

Born on 21 June 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama.
She started singing in gospel groups like Hayes Ensemble and The Lloyd Reese Singers. After entering a talent show in Chicago, 1959 Ralph Bass of Chess offered her a record contract. Billy Davis (2) was her main producer while she was at Chess. Her biggest hit was with her single "I'm Your Part Time Love" a Top 20 hit in 1963. In 1968 she left Chess for William Bell's Peachtree Record Company. In 1971 she developed polyps on her vocal cords losing her singing voice, and gave up her secular music career. Later she started a gospel career recording religious music albums and keeping herself busy with activities around her strong christian beliefs.
