Hans-Joachim Kurzweg (born on December 1, 1936 in Strausberg near Berlin; died July 16, 2023 in Berlin) was a german conductor. He began as a cellist. In 1969 he founded the "Orchester Joachim Kurzweg" and worked together with Gerhard Siebholz for many years. His orchestra soon established itself as the most important ensemble for party sound music in the GDR. From 1974 simply called "Orchester Jo Kurzweg", accompanied by the Gerd Michaelis-Chor and later the Cantus-Chor.brother of Ehm Kurzweg
