San Francisco Bay Area-based blues group that describes its sound as "Hill country and Delta blues with hypnotic grooves." The band styles its name as "HowellDevine" (one word) in its promotional materials and on the cover art of most releases.

The band was signed to Arhoolie Records by the late Chris Strachwitz and released two albums on that label in the mid-2010s. Other releases have come out on Little Village Foundation and
