The Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band (LSJUMB), self-proclaimed as the "world's largest rock 'n roll band", is the student-run marching band of Stanford University. Originally established in 1893, it became widely popular since 1963 under the direction of Arthur P. Barnes. The band's repertoire is heavy on classic rock of the 1970s, particularly songs by Tower of Power, Santana, and The Who. They hold over one thousand compositions in their active rotation, never playing the same song twice in one day (except for Free - All Right Now, which is their official "fight" song). One of the first collegiate marching bands to record and release their music, LSJUMB produced thirteen albums since 1967. Arrangements focus on trumpets, mellophones, and trombones as the loudest brass instruments supported by bass drum (called the Axis o' Rhythm), snare and single tenor drums.
