矢吹健

Real name: 矢吹健 (Yabuki Ken)

Effective period / Period of releases: 1968 - 1976

Japanese singer and songwriter, born November 1, 1945 in Kofu (Yamanashi), died January 19, 2015. Released his debut record in 1968.

Yabuki was a Monzetsu Kayou (悶絶歌謡) singer of the Japanese 'Psych Lounge' era, featuring heavy vibrato of abnormally high tension.
It's a kind of higher key Psych which makes the psychedelic atmosphere of the singer's self-intoxication deeply felt.
It conjures up a masochistic and dark world, created together with writer Takuya Fujimoto (藤本卓也), and was a remarkable turning point in the history of Showa Kayou.
Especially Ken Yabuki's husky voice combined with a crushing sigh, earned him the name of "Misty Voice" 「ミスティーボイス」
