Flavio Spirito Santo

Real name: Flávio Rodrigues

(Born in Rio de Janeiro, RJ)
An unusual figure of MPB, in the 1980s he used to walk around Rio de Janeiro bars (Lamas, Adega Flor de Coimbra, Amarelinho etc) with his walkman so that people could listen to his compositions and buy his merchandise --- cassette tape or the LP Flavio Y Spirito Santo he had released by 1981. His first album featured nine compositions, all of which were written by him. Renowned musicians participated in this LP: Beto Saroldi (soprano and tenor sax), Marcus Vianna (electric guitars), Peninha (drums) and Antônio Krisnas (flutes).

By the time his second album was released, he had added more musicians in the production: Paul de Castro (violin), Marcus Vianna and Barry Clark (both in electric guitar), Pena (drums), Daniel Moreno and Paulo Pizziali (both in percussion), Chico Julien (bass) and Julio Villani (keyboard).
