Kud - Šokadija
KUD "Šokadija" is a traditional folk company from Slavonia in Croatia.
KUD "Šokadija" from Stari Mikanovac, Slavonia was founded in 1967 as a result of the visit of KUD Pajo Kolarić from Osijek, Pavle Blažek, Julij Njikoš and Vera Svoboda to Mikanovci. By 1968, KUD "Šokadija" was well established and for the first time organized the event "Youth and Beauty of Slavonia"(The youth and beauty of Slavonia is a show of daughters-in-law, girls and boys in national costumes, which is classified as one of the 4 traditional manifestations of the Vukovar-Srijem County, and is held every year in Stari Mikanovci in February). The company still performs today and is active throughout the year, and also gives numerous performances at the original festival, as well as independent concerts. There are numerous performances by KUD at shows such as Vinkovac autumns, Đakovo embroideries and the International Folklore Show in Zagreb.In 2004, KUD "Šokadija" represented Croatia at the International Exhibition of Traditional Dance and Music in France.
