Real name: João Baptista da Silva

João Baptista da Silva (Cordeirópolis, August 5, 1909 - Guararema, December 30, 1998), better known by his nickname João Pacífico, was a composer of caipira music, author of Cabocla Tereza.

João Pacífico died on December 30, 1998, in Guararema, where he was buried with the presence of few friends who sang some of his immortal works.

In his hometown Cordeirópolis, at the initiative of Vilma Peramezza, the "Casa de Cultura João Pacífico" was created in his honor, while the Municipal Camera instituted the "João Pacífico Medal", which is given to personalities.

In Guararema, the "João Pacífico Week" is established, in honor of the Poet of Sertão.
