Festival was a country rock band led by a Vietnam Veteran named Britt Small. "The Festival Family" included up to 21 members with 11 being members of the "onstage group" and the others being part of the "backstage group'. They all lived together on a 300 acre farm in Skidmore, Missouri, with the goal of living the "Aquarian dream". Initially, most of the members were students at Northwest Missouri State University with the motto of "living in peace and harmony". They would play paying gigs in almost every state west of the Mississippi River to support the community.
