Dr. John H. Wilson

Trumpet player, arranger from Pittsburgh, PA area.
Director of Jazz Studies at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA from 1972-1996. Played with Satuer-Finegan, Benny Goodman, Pete Rugalo, Neil Hefti, Claude Thornhill, Eliot Lawrence orchestras. Recorded with Phil Woods, Gerry Mulligan, Herbie Mann, Lee Konitz. Arrangements played by Benny Goodman, Herbie Mann, Tony Williams, Gerry Niewood, and Red Mitchel. Co-authored the textbook “Instrumental Jazz Arranging: A Comprehensive and Practical Guide” (Hal Leonard Publications) with Mike Tomaro.
