Donald Smith

Australian Tenor singer from Bundaberg, Queensland. Won a state scholarship to learn his craft & was invited in 1951 to perform with The Italian Grand Opera Company who was touring the country. Joined Australian Opera in 1958. Was the very first singer to perform in the Sydney Opera House Opera Theatre and Concert Hall. In 1973 was awarded the Order of the British Empire in the NSW Queen's honor list for his services to music. He died December 1, 1999 aged 76.
