London born of Nigerian descent, Chijioke gaining notoriety on the London underground hip hop scene, and signed to label Big Dada in 2001.

His album "Upwards" (2003) earned a Mercury Music Prize nomination. While he later signed to label Tru Thoughts in January 2013.

He sadly died due to pneumonia, after intensive treatment for COVID-19, during the 2020-2021 coronavirus pandemic.
