Pianist, arranger and composer. Originally from Canada, he moved to New York in 1938. Worked with Teddy Wilson, Coleman Hawkins, Cab Calloway and as a freelance arranger for Artie Shaw, Roy Eldridge, Count Basie, Billie Holiday and Dizzy Gillespie.
