The Fairies

Members: Mick Weaver, John Charles Alder, Dane Stephens, Fred Gandy, Nick Wymer, John Acutt

"The Fairies", from Colchester in Essex, UK, developed out of the 1963 pub band "Dane Stephens & The Deep Beats" - changing their name upon a Decca recording deal in 1964. Whilst on the local venue rhythm & blues circuit with Keith Wymer's "Nick & The Nomads", members of both bands merged to become "The Fairies" on Stephens' departure. Orde joined the "Cops n' Robbers" (As Dane Stephens).

Members:
Nick Wymer (vocals); Mick Weaver (lead guitar); John Acutt: (rhythm guitar); John "Freddy" Gandy (bass); John "Twink" Alder: (drums).
"Twink" became a member of "The Pretty Things", "Tomorrow" & "The Pink Fairies". Gandy became a member of "Bluesology". Weaver was the force behind "Wynder K. Frog" & played with "Traffic", as well as being a popular session musician.
