Real name: Ousmane Sow Huchard

Ousmane Sow Huchard (b. 05 Dec 1942, Ziguinchor - d. 01 Jul 2020, Dakar, Senegal) was a world-renowned Senegalese politician, ecologist, museologist, art critic, museum curator, international consultant and musicologist.

As a musician, he was mostly known as Soleya Mama and was one of the founding members of the Dakar University Sextet (1964) before creating his group Le Waatoo Sita in 1970 - an experimental outfit that aimed to blend Western instruments with traditional West African instruments such as the kora, the tam-tam, the bugeer , the balafon and the bass bolong.
