Brazilian rock guitar player and composer José Provetti, also known as "Gato" (Cat), was born in Valparaíso, Sao Paulo (January 7, 1941) and died in Rio de Janeiro (January 31, 1996), victim of a stroke. Gato is best known as a member of legendary Brazilian rock group The Jet Blacks (from 1961 to 1966). The also played and recorded with famous singer Roberto Carlos, Sérgio Reis and Celly Campelo, among others.
