Beginning in the late 1960s, Bolden recorded and produced New Orleans artists like Jean Knight, Tony Owens and David Batiste & The Gladiators for his independent Soulin' Records label. He also wrote and arranged songs, and played keyboards on recordings for Knight, Owens, Johnny Adams and Willy DeVille’s 1990 Willy DeVille - Victory Mixture album of New Orleans R&B covers.
