Nigel Watson

Real name: Nigel Jerome Edwin Watson

Effective period / Period of releases: 1972 - 2002

Nigel Watson was an English musician, songwriter, vocalist and on an occasion a conga player. He was born in London, UK on Sept. 24 1947. He was best known for his work with ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green (2). He made two solo singles in 1970 and 1972 with Green after he left Fleetwood Mac, and also toured with them in the US on congas in 1970.

In 1996, Watson and Green started working together again, after having persuaded Green to return to music after several years of silence. They formed the Peter Green Splinter Group, recording both classic blues and new songs, often using different guest artists. They released several albums until they called it quits in 2004.

Nigel Watson died on Feb. 19, 2019, preceding Peter Green by almost 1½ years.
