Jacó E Jacozinho
Effective period / Period of releases: 1980 - 1981
Members: Jacó, Jacozinho
Jacó E Jacozinho is a duo centered around Amado Jacob (Jacozinho) and several brothers who assumed the role of Jacó (and later Jacozinho), Antonio Jacob being the most important one as a songwriter and during the most crucial era of this duo. They were the sons of Gabriel Jacob (1902 - 1979), a renowned Paranaense folk musician dancer of Catira known as Jacó da Viola, and Dona Maria Joana de Jesus (1911 - 1982). He had 9 siblings: José Jacob (1932 - 1972), João Jacob (1934 - 1981), Antonio Jacob (1939 - 1981), Benedito Jacob (1942 - 1965), Sebastião Jacob (1943 - 1981), Amado Jacob (1944 - 2001), Aparecida Jacob (1946), Pedro Jacob (04/10/1948 - 19/03/2009) and Inês (1950).
The first two 78rpm records were recorded by Benedito (Jacó) and Amado (Jacozinho). By the time the first LP came up in 1964, the classic formation was set, with Antonio as Jacó replacing Benedito (who died shortly after). They were the best-selling duo of the 70s, with Tião Carreiro E Pardinho at Continental, and recorded in this formation until 1980. Then, several changes in formation came into place during the 80s and 90s, with Pedro Jacob filling the role of Jacó or Jacozinho, depending on the situation.
There are two records in the name of Antonio E Amado, which are actually Jacó & Jacozinho using their real names.
Finally, in 1995, Pedro and his son Pedro Raphael formed Jacó & Jacozito. His brother Gabriel Jacob would become a top producer in sertanejo and bass player.
