Founded in 1950 under the name of "Los Cantores Clásicos", it was directed by chorus master Roberto Pla until 1952, in which it is transformed into Coros de Radio Nacional de España, under the direction of Odón Alonso until 1958, replaced by different chorus masters: Alberto Blancafort . Pedro Pífano, Pascual Ortega, Jordi Casas Bayer, Miguel Amantegui, Alberto Blancafort, Laszlo Heltay, Mariano Alfonso, Josep Vila I Casañas and again Jordi Casas Bayer until August 2013. Since May 2015, titular director of the RTVE choir is Javier Corcuera Martínez. In addition, since March 1, 2016, bass David Arilla is assistant director.
