The Band was formed on 1st November 1937 as the Ransome & Marles Work Band and played under that name until 1970, when due to the merger between the Ransome and Marles Bearing Company, Hoffman Manufacturing Company and Pollard Bearing Company, It became known as The Ransome Hoffman Pollard Works Band AKA RHP Band
