Doktor Död
Effective period / Period of releases: 2009
Started rapping in 1999. Released countless mp3s during the netcee era of the latter half of the 00s. Mainly known for his "MP3 of the Week" on Whoa.nu with the coming out song 'Självbetitlad' ('Self-titled'), from the concept album 'Bögjävel' ('Faggot') in 2009, combining traditional boom-bap with self-distancing lyrics about his homosexuality to tackle the then still culturally accepted homophobia in Swedish hip-hop, which resulted in an article in QX magazine and an interview special in Ametist Azordegan's program 'En kärleksattack på svensk hiphop' ('A love attack on Swedish hip-hop') on Sveriges Radio (Swedish Radio). A follow-up full-length was completed in 2011 but reluctantly chose instead to give up a sisyphean struggle which by this marker in time had assumed depression-suicidal proportions, forcing a choice between apostasy or playing the congenital disorder into its hands entirely in order to be "declared healthy", why the release of music ceased. With a year of post-viral shenanigans behind "her", it was announced in 2021 that an EP was set to be released where Doktor Död would not only rap but also write the music, mix and master, packaged with "her" art direction. After symptomatic delays, the EP 'Så länge jag lever' ('As long as I live') was finally released late in 2023.
