Flavio Basso
Flávio Basso (b. Porto Alegre, January 26, 1968 - d. Porto Alegre, December 21, 2015), aka Woody Apple, Júpiter Maçã, and Jupiter Apple, was a Brazilian singer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and filmmaker. A fundamental reference of the gaucho rock, he was the founder of bands TNT (35) and Os Cascavelletes, both of which influenced a whole new generation of gaucho bands from the 90's onwards. In solo career, he adopted different aliases: Woody Apple (for a short period), Júpiter Maçã (mostly for his recordings in Portuguese), and "Jupiter Apple (mostly for his recordings in English). He is recognized as one of the icons of Brazilian psychedelia, bringing a new degree of experimentalism to national rock.
