Cellist and composer (born September 29, 1879 in The Hague, The Netherlands - died November 26, 1950 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts)

Willeke was educated at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Rotterdam. In 1907, he emigrated to the United States, and in 1912 he became a naturalized U.S. citizen.

Willeke was first cellist of the New York Symphony Orchestra under Walter Damrosch. In the 1940s, he taught at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. From 1918 to his death, he directed the South Mountain String Quartet in the Berkshires.

Between 1918 and 1925, Willeke recorded several dozen titles for Brunswick, in addition to two titles he recorded for Edison in 1918.
