Gérard Desreumaux is a Belgian accordionist. He was born in Wervik (Belgium) on 5/1/1923 with a big passion for music. On his sixteenth he participated in an international accordeon competition in Roubaix (France) and won from more then 100 participants. In 1959, together with his pianist Armand Stragier, he started his own record label: Carina Records. He made more than 240 compositions and worked together with Jacques Brel, Shirley Bassey and Burt Blanca to name just a few. Soon he got the titles ’Koning van de Swing’ and ’Icoon van de accordeon’. He was associate at SABAM (Belgian association of authors, composers and publishers). On 27/11/1982 Gérard died in Menen (Belgium) due to an incurable desease.
